Works
The Traversée de Spa (Crossing Spa) project aims to achieve several objectives in close collaboration with the Town of Spa and the various project owners:
- Improve the accessibility of the town’s tourist and economic sectors;
- Preserve the environment and enhance public spaces;
- Improve comfort and safety for all users, particularly footpaths and cycle paths;
- Ensure better accessibility, particularly through the management of on-street parking.
It continues on from developments recently implemented by SPW Mobilité et Infrastructures in Spa. These include the development work and the creation of a roundabout on the N62 in 2019, the development of the RAVeL connecting to Spa-Géronstère station, completed in 2024, and the Véloroute des Sources cycle route, for which work is scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
Improvements planned by the SPW MI
The Traversée de Spa project is part of the SPW Mobilité et Infrastructures PIMPT 2020-2026 and consists of redeveloping two areas :
- Full redevelopment between the Amaury Delrez roundabout and the Tonnelet crossroads
- Resurfacing between the railway bridge (Marteau side) and the Amaury Delrez roundabout, which will enable the Véloroute des Sources development to be completed.
The developments planned on the N62 include :
- Improved safety with a speed limit of 30 km/h between the Amaury Delrez roundabout and the Rue Entre les Ponts;
- Improved accessibility with the creation of new parking spaces;
- The creation of a cycle path between the Véloroute des Sources and the RAVeL L44a;
- Making pedestrian areas and BUS platforms accessible to people with reduced mobility;
- Greening the site with a line of trees on Avenue Reine Astrid and the creation of green spaces;
- Renewing the street lighting on Avenue Reine Astrid, Rue Royale and the Tonnelet crossroads, in line with the lighting installed at the Amaury Delrez roundabout.
Developments planned by the Town of Spa
In addition to the work carried out by the SPW MI, the town of Spa has planned various projects involving the development of:
- Place Foch,
- the access road to Avenue Reine Astrid,
- the station car park,
- the Casino gardens.
